Hello!
After Job, I’d also like to introduce myself. My name is Raoul, I’m 34 years old, I live in Breda, and for the past seven years, I’ve been working as an R&D engineer at Assa Abloy.
I got married to Denise 1.5 years ago, and in the near future, our family will grow as we’re expecting a son.
Running, but especially hiking in the mountains, has always brought me great joy. When Job came up with the idea of doing the La Chouffe Trail Run a year ago, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Initially, I was quite intimidated by the 70 km distance and questioned why we wanted to tackle such a long run right away. However, it turned out to be easier than I had anticipated. Because it went so smoothly, the idea of running a 100 km started to grow on me. After not thinking about it for a few months, the thought started creeping back into my mind in recent weeks.
For the 100+ km run, I had my sights set on the Eiger Trail because the location appealed to me. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the lottery for this event. However, while browsing their website, I noticed the 250 km race. This is truly a next-level challenge and would be an extraordinary adventure to take on. Since this race is a team event, I needed to find someone crazy enough to join me on this journey. This is why I asked Job to join in.
The first step is now to complete the 102 km race, which will also take place in the Swiss Alps, though more towards the eastern region. We’ve signed up for this race, and the training has begun!
Training Information:
In 2024, my main focus will be on regaining rhythm and building mileage, while also figuring out how to balance training with life as a new dad. Starting in 2025, I plan to focus more specifically on the 100 km race by creating a dedicated training plan.
