Hello everyone,
Some of you may already know me, but for those who don’t, let me introduce myself. My name is Job, and together with Raoul, I am embarking on an incredible journey to participate in the Eiger 250km trail in 2026.
I am 31 years old and live in Terheijden. For the past eight years, I have been working at Boskalis, where I started as a hydrographic surveyor and have been working as a GIS specialist for almost two years now. I live with my girlfriend Maud and our dog Luna.
I have always enjoyed pushing my limits, which has led me to some crazy challenges. The biggest one so far was completing a full IRONMAN in 2022. The year before, I did a half IRONMAN, which left me wanting more.
Two years later, I found myself missing the motivation and training stimuli that come with preparing for such a challenge. That’s when Raoul asked me, just over two weeks ago, if I would be interested in running a 250km ultramarathon. Naturally, I said yes, and we started looking into what it would take to achieve this goal.
We quickly learned that for the race we have in mind, we need to have a minimum UTMB index of 100, which means completing at least one 100km trail. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish my last event, the La Chouffe trail, because of blisters, so I don’t have any UTMB score yet.
We soon established our intermediate goal: the Engadin Ultra Trail, a 102km race. Last weekend, we officially signed up for it!
We plan to keep everyone who is interested updated on our progress, be transparent about our training, and share as much data as possible.
Now, two weeks into this adventure, I can feel my motivation for training rekindling. I’m excited and hope to cover as many kilometers as possible in the coming two years and be ready for our first goal, the 102km race, in 250 days.
Training Information:
For the past two weeks, I have been following the running training suggested by Garmin. I plan to stick to this for at least 1 to 2 months to get back into the rhythm of running.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey towards the 250km ultramarathon!
Best regards,
Job
